Dr. Kuroski-Mazzei receives the Patriot Award
January 18, 2023
Alyson R. Kuroski-Mazzei, DO, MRO, DFAPA, FASAM, CEO & Chief Medical Officer was awarded the “Patriot Award” by the Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office.
Justin Johnson, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist and Director of Veteran Services, nominated Dr. Kuroski-Mazzei. A U.S. Army Reserve member, Dr. Johnson was among three HopeWay employees deployed this past fall.
“I nominated Dr. Kuroski-Mazzei because she supported the three of us HopeWay employees who deployed at the same time,” said Dr. Johnson. “ Throughout the process, she was supportive, always thinking about how HopeWay could be helpful to support us overseas, and never seemed burdened by it, despite it being likely quite stressful to lose three employees from a company our size.”
The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors beyond merely complying with the law that governs employing members of the Guard and Reserve. This support includes providing additional schedule flexibility and time off prior to and after deployment, and caring for the families of the deployed service member.
“I am deeply honored to receive the ESGR Patriot Award and be nominated by Dr. [Justin] Johnson,” said Dr. Kuroski-Mazzei, who is also a triple-boarded psychiatrist. “I am grateful for the sacrifice, time and commitment our three military service member colleagues give in serving our country. HopeWay is proud to support their efforts and loyalty in protecting our great nation”
Added Johnson, “This award shows Dr. Kuroski-Mazzei’s dedication to our country through the support of service members in the Reserve and National Guard.”
